Lyric in Limestone

A new collection of lyrical works revealing the unheard voice of the Peak District. From reflections on a B29 bomber that crashed in the High Peak, to the compelling story of the last gibbet in Derbyshire and how it was a poet who ended the grisly practice, these recordings, made in the places that inspired them, will take people on a new journey through the region. Here too is the first ever recording of the Devil's Arse, a mysterious natural noise that creates a brief rhythmic accompaniment before passing it on to the drummer. Lyric in Limestone is commissioned by Glassball Art Projects.

Psychicbread

Presenting the word in print, audio and film, the book and CD Psychicbread (Route, 2003) is a collection of poems and stories - soundscaped, empowered by percussion and projected in a series of compelling films.

'The poem Brassed Off Billy Monty, is worth the price of the book alone but there's a baker's dozen equally good skulking inside the covers. Gwynne Jones should be ruined with fame and money before he shows the rest of us up for the bunch of sissies we are. But if you don't want the truth, don't call a poet - at least not a real one.' Martin Newell of The Independent

For well under ten pounds, Jones can transport us anywhere. He delivers his fantastical tales with frantic energy and a surreal sense of humour, that works equally well in audio, film or written form.' Artscene

Welcome to the strange and beautiful world of Mark Gwynne Jones. Where bullies are cooked in curry, poems wake the dead and a boy with an eye on his index finger has seen something he shouldn't. Odd, yet oddly familiar, these poems reveal the fantastic nature of the things we take for granted, and then lead us through madness to the magic of here and now.

'Enchanting tales spiced with bewildered innocence, spell binding wizardry and a healthy hint of the macarbre.' Overall

The Natterjack Toad and Other Accidents (Solar Press, 2001) is an illustrated collection of poems and stories for young people (suitable for 8yrs+). Includes Pickety Pockety Poems and other favourites.:
